Riding a bicycle in Japan is the best way to get around. But there are a few bicycles rules to follow if you don't wanna get in trouble and even end up in jail for a few months.

Bicycles are widely used in Japan by people of all ages. Tourists will find that rental bicycles are available in many tourist destinations as alternative transportation to get around.

Rules to follow:

1)Ride on the left side of the road.

2)Most have a bell and headlamp.

3)There is no helmet law if you are 13yrs older.

4)If you are looking to buy a bicycle you must know that register by owners name is the first requirement.

5)No need to lock in g your bicycle. (believe me it will be there when you get back)

6)Don't drink and bike. (you can end up in jail)

7) Cycling on sidewalks is prohibited, except where indicated by shared sidewalk signs.

8) Don't use a cellphone or earphones while riding.

9)When is raining don't use an umbrella, get a poncho.

If you follow these rules you will enjoy without any problem the streets of Japan.
