Camping Fever all the way!!

Camping is very popular in Japan and even more during summertime. I have been to 2 different campsites and that’s enough times to say that Japanese people don't joke around when they go cam(glam)ping.

It is incredible how they set their camping area and how fancy they can go with every single detail, even if they are just staying for one day. The first day that we went camping was at Lake Mototsuko, one of the 4 lakes around Mt. Fuji. It's a popular camping area because of the beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. The weather is perfect, doesn't matter if it’s raining or sunny. The water is clear and cold but in summer season is perfect, just set your chair inside the lake and enjoy the incredible view.

From where we live there is a camping ground better known as Koho Campsite, which is about 2 1/2 hr out. The traffic is mostly light so it’s a good trip and the view of Mt. Fuji is a plus. The good thing is that you can find so many convenience stores along the way that if you need to grab something or even make a quick stop to the restroom you don't need to worry about it.

Now again, cam(glam)ping... honestly, for me camping was just a single tent, chair, and food. Now we keep trying to improve our gear since we have seen how Japanese people do camping. And it makes sense all the utilities they used even if is just for one day. It's convenient, and it makes it more interesting to build your camp area and admired the results.

At Koho Campsite, which is the best location facing Mt. Fuji, they offer two options for camping; one is in the lake area (the best one in my opinion), and the second one is the wood area. It's close to the lake but you can't enjoy Mt. Fuji view as much as if you were in the lake area. The restrooms services are in perfect condition, clean and easy to access from each camp area. You can find showers, toilets and an area where you can clean your pots and other kitchen supplies. They also have cabins and the option to separate a camping area just for one day.

Here is the link for more information about the services and prices.

Until the next camping blog because life is best lived when you go camping!
